Lupe and B.O.B. @ The Rave
Finally, around 8:30 pm, the first local act took the stage. By this time, fans had become: cranky, hot, tired, and tightly packed into the designated concert area. No one could blame them, as the concert was advertised with a 6pm start time. So things were running way behind schedule and no explanations or apologies were offered. However, concert goers still tried to put on a good face and showed the first opening act some love. The second act was not so lucky and was more or less driven off stage. Sensing the crowd's unrest, rapper B.O.B. was sent out to try and save the moment. And that he did, as he kicked things off with a high energy debut performance of his new hit, "Airplanes." That performance is featured below. The rising Atlanta star would rock the crowd for about 45 minutes, giving the audience a bit of: r&b, hip-hop, and rock flavor. Also, the rapper had tons of audience participation moments as well. With his: high energy, humble attitude, and fun loving nature, B.O.B. definitely left his heart on the stage and the fans feeling satisfied.
Unfortunately, not the same could be said for his tour mate Lupe Fiasco. First, the high energy that B.O.B. had generated quickly faded out, as fans were forced into waiting once again. Another 30 minutes would pass before there was any sign that Lupe was coming out at all. Once set up, a venue employee came and delivered a very hostile message from the rapper about walking off, if the fans gave him any type of grief. Since he was the late one, fans didn't take the message too well. However, once Lupe was gracious enough to hit the stage, things picked back up. He would go on to perform for an hour plus, mixing things up with new tracks from his upcoming album and old fan favorites like, "Hip-Hop Saved My Life." Overall, the concert as a whole was just fair. The lateness and the lack of professionalism definitely put a hurting on things. I for one was slightly disappointed with the whole ordeal and hope that the rest of the tour is handled a lot better.
Don't forget B.O.B.'s debut album The Adventures Of Bobby Ray, hits retailers on the 27th of this month. Also, his singles "Nothing On You" and "Airplanes" can be purchased on iTunes now. Be sure to support the rising rapper, he's got a very bright future ahead of him. There is no word on when Lupe plans to release his new project. If you would like to catch a show, there is still plenty of time. Tickets are on sale now via local Ticket Master outlets. -

Lupe as Japanese Cartoon
I'm not 100% sure if this is going to be a side project, or if this is just a one off experiment, but Lupe (or rather, Percival Fats) is now fronting a rock band he is calling Japanese Cartoon, and is singing in a British accent.
Lu has been speaking in code lately on Twitter (with the exception of giving me my new moniker "Leaky") about his latest recordings, so maybe this is what he was hinting at. Check it out for yourself.
